About DLB Consulting Group

From the Fortune 500 to Faith-Based Business β€” Helping You Build What Lasts

Dawn Hardwick, Founder of DLB Consulting Group

My name is Dawn Hardwick, and I founded DLB Consulting Group out of a calling β€” not just a career move.

For over 35 years, I served in the corporate world, managing payroll for a Fortune 500 company that processed retirement funds for more than 13,000 retirees. I understood compliance, systems, deadlines, and what it truly means to be accountable to people who are counting on you.

But there came a point when I knew it was time to use those skills to serve a different kind of mission β€” entrepreneurs, faith-based organizations, and church leaders who are doing incredible work but need someone to help them get their administrative and tax house in order.

DLB Consulting Group exists to bridge that gap. Whether you're a pastor incorporating your ministry, a church establishing your 501(c)(3) status, or a new entrepreneur taking your first steps β€” I am here to guide you through every form, every filing, and every decision.

This work is personal to me. It's my calling to be a blessing to the Kingdom by helping those who serve others build their businesses on a solid foundation.

A Word to Every Business Owner

You didn't step into entrepreneurship by accident. You were called to it. But the journey doesn't have to be walked alone. Whether you're just getting started or scaling to the next level, having the right guide beside you can mean the difference between spinning your wheels and building something that lasts β€” something that blesses your family, your community, and generations to come. That's why I do this work. That's why I show up every day.

Invest in Your Growth

Why Select a Business Coach?

Having a coach in your corner isn't a luxury β€” it's one of the smartest investments a business owner can make.

Clarity in the Chaos

A business coach helps you cut through overwhelm and identify exactly what steps to take next. No more guessing. No more spinning. Just a clear, focused path forward.

Accountability That Drives Results

Anyone can set goals. A coach makes sure you actually reach them. Having someone in your corner who holds you to your vision is one of the most powerful things you can invest in.

Experience You Can Borrow

Why spend years making costly mistakes when you can learn from someone who's already been there? A great coach brings hard-won wisdom to every conversation β€” and saves you time, money, and stress.

Confidence to Make Bold Moves

Entrepreneurship requires courage. A coach helps you build the confidence to take the risks your business needs β€” backed by strategy, not fear.

Prioritizing Your Wellbeing: Why You Can't Pour from an Empty Cup

Why Putting Your Health Before Wealth Is the Ultimate Key to Success in Business and Life

By Dawn Hardwick, DLB Consulting Group LLC Β· May 21, 2026 Β· 3 min read

In the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship and business, the pressure to endlessly pursue success can sometimes blur our priorities. Many business professionals, from CEOs to new founders, are tempted to put the goals of their companies β€” their visions β€” and the needs of others ahead of their own health and happiness. Yet, there is powerful wisdom in the phrase:

β€œYou can't pour from an empty cup.”

Understanding the Power of Self-Care in Business

At DLB Consulting Group LLC, we encounter countless entrepreneurs and business owners who are laser-focused on growth and results. While hustle, dedication, and helping others are essential values, these must be balanced with self-care. Your personal well-being is not just a nice-to-have; it is the very foundation on which long-lasting success is built.

When you neglect your own health β€” physically, mentally, emotionally β€” you run the risk of burnout, poor decision-making, and diminished productivity. Your vision and mission should be driven by your best self, not by a depleted one.

Your Health is More Important Than Your Wealth

There is a saying: Health is wealth. No amount of success, money, or recognition can compensate for chronic stress, illness, or exhaustion. As you pursue your business ambitions, remember:

  • βœ“Without health, you cannot fully enjoy your achievements.
  • βœ“Rest and restoration fuel creativity and problem-solving.
  • βœ“A healthy leader inspires and supports a healthy team.

The truth is, your business will only thrive when you do.

Learning to Recharge: The Breather Your Mind and Body Need

Many high-achievers view taking breaks as a sign of weakness or wasted time. In reality, strategic rest is a catalyst for sustained growth and resilience. Some practical steps to recharge include:

  • βœ“Schedule Breaks: Treat breaks as non-negotiable meetings with yourself.
  • βœ“Practice Mindfulness: Incorporate breathing exercises, meditation, or journaling into your daily routine.
  • βœ“Exercise and Nutrition: Even brisk walks and a healthy meal can restore your energy.
  • βœ“Get Support: Seek advice from consultants, mentors, or professional groups when feeling stuck.

Remember, when you pause to recharge, you gain clarity, focus, and stamina to move your vision forward.

Trust Your Timing: The Path to Success Isn't Always Linear

It's easy to compare your journey to others' and feel like you're falling behind. But as someone who's also wrestled with doubt and confusion, I believe that opportunities find us at exactly the right moment, provided we are open and ready.

Prioritizing your wellbeing allows you to:

  • βœ“Recognize the right opportunities when they arise.
  • βœ“Pivot swiftly when plans change.
  • βœ“Show up as your best self β€” at every meeting, decision, and stage.

Trust yourself, and trust that you are exactly where you need to be right now.

Leverage Tools and Resources β€” But Don't Lose Sight of Yourself

Modern business offers countless products and services designed to help you work smarter, not harder. At DLB Consulting Group LLC, for example, we provide everything from business incorporation and tax preparation to credit repair and funding solutions. These resources are invaluable in moving to the next level.

Yet, tools are only as powerful as the person using them. Here's how to use outside support without losing your self-understanding:

  • βœ“Do Your Research: Be discerning about what support and advice are best suited to your unique vision.
  • βœ“Stay Aligned: Ensure new tools and processes serve, rather than distract, from your core goals and values.
  • βœ“Keep Learning: Take ownership of your journey by continuously educating yourself.
  • βœ“Pour Back Into Yourself: Celebrate your wins, invest in your well-being, and give yourself grace on tough days.

Next Steps: Achieve More By Caring for Yourself First

If you're striving to level up your business, don't neglect the basics:

  • βœ“Prioritize your health as much as you prioritize your goals.
  • βœ“Recognize when you need to pause β€” it's the most productive thing you can do.
  • βœ“Seek out quality support, but always listen to your own needs and intuition.

By taking these steps, you will be better positioned to seize opportunities, make impactful decisions, and ultimately achieve sustainable, meaningful success.

β€œRemember: Your vision matters, but so do you. Fill your cup, care for your health, and you'll be ready to turn hope into achievement β€” at exactly the right place and the right time.”
